Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until it becomes golden brown and fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.
- Add the red pepper flakes and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce:
- Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil. Toss to coat the pasta in the oil and garlic.
- If the pasta seems too dry, add a bit of the reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Season and Serve:
- Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- If using, stir in the chopped parsley.
- Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
Variations:
- Add Protein: You can add grilled chicken, shrimp, or even some crispy bacon bits.
- Vegetables: Toss in some sautéed vegetables like spinach, cherry tomatoes, or mushrooms for added flavor and texture.
- Herbs and Spices: Experiment with other herbs like basil or oregano.
Enjoy your pasta!
